Dead cell on Maxamps 2s 8k pack - 06.27.2008, 08:54 PM

Well it must be dead or near dead. Not sure if any of you remember but I only have two charges in them with my Hyperion Duo. After my first run all the cells were 3.20 when the LVC kicked in with the exception of one cell which was 2.88v. Now I was just out running and it started acting weird like it was cutting out which surprised me. My first time out I had about 60 minutes of run time. Now very little. Well brought it in put them both on the Hyperion and that one cell was 2.65 and the rest were again 3.20. I did not get the warranty so I am hoping that MA will do good for me. If not I am going to have to look for another lipo manufacturer........

Kind of frustrating I bought the E Revo with the intentions of it being low maintenance and lots of fun and runtime and very little wrenching. It has just been the opposite. I have some poor luck with things that is for sure. I just checked the Duo now and it is all balanced again and taking a charge. I have only been charging them at 6.5 amps too not the 8.0 that I could be. So much for being nice to them..... Sorry had to vent. I will have to call MA monday.

One more funny thing. I had to send them back in to get wired out the side. When I got them back the sticker on them said they were 11.1v 3s 8k packs. Someone was rushing the work out. They ended up sending me new stickers to put on.

We used to sell MaxAmps stuff at my work... We have stopped. Out of the 15 packs we ordered, atleast 5 have been bad. Three different lipo's, 2 of their 8 cell shotgun NiMH packs.

a good cheap alternative is the True RC packs

I have gotten similar performance from the 10c True Rc packs than from 20c Max amps packs

Exactly. I seem to get better amp capability from my 80A trurc pack than my 100A maxamps did. The maxamps are all long dead now. Each one had a puffed cell. TrueRC still going strong :).

I had the lhs setup for maxamps, and even bought enough lipos to get them the 20% off. We had the same situation, I bet that I sent back 75% of the packs that we sold. We quit dealing with them, and started selling fp, no issues so far...
