Baja 5B? -
07.28.2008, 03:56 PM
Has anyone converted an HPI Baja 5b? I know fine design sells one with a lehner motor. I want to see someone use a huge Neu. A 2215 or 2230. Think how that thing would rip!
Someone do it. Now.

I know how to make it even faster while still gas. Just take off the exhaust completely and wear earplugs.
But I think the brushless would be something to see. May not be much faster, but imo cooler. Plus, he only had the 2215, try putting the 2230 in.

nope bl will kill the gas motor too. Top speed is only slightly faster but still, it is faster. And initial take off can not be touched when it is BL.

Mike is gearing up to do a baja for me, he is currently doing alot of research on this and after spending some time on the phone with him and spending some time on the baja forum I have discovered some very interesting stuff....like the fact that a brushless electric baja 5b will be at least 5 pounds lighter with a super low CG compared to the gasser. You can also use all the carbon fiber goodies they make (which I already have) including a carbon fiber chassis (vantage) that will shave another 2 pounds off of her bringing her weight down from 22 pounds to around 15...killer huh? Now for the really killer part, A full race mod 30cc gas motor is producing about 5-6 horse and the NEU 2215 on 8s far exeeds that (enough to rip the gears out of the buggy) so it will have power to spare. Anyway the guy's on the baja forum dislike the idea of an E baja in fact they think it would be an abomination and would take all the fun out of having one. Mike will have mine on his work bench in the next few weeks and I'm confident he will turn out an awesome conversion. When it's done I will post pics.

there just pissed cause the e-baja will kill the gassers. I have been wanting to do a baja for a long time but i have no money to do so. I find myself buying other stuff.

I just won a baja and I like it a lot. I have only driven it once and it is such a lawn mower but I love it. They are a bit over weight and are a bit on the fragile side because of this but they are a fun car to drive. I haven't had it long enough to make judgements on the reliability of the motor but they are a lot better then the nitros. I quite like the petrol motor. Easy to start and no tuning needed.

how did you win one? On ebay or actually WIN one for free? the gassers are not nearly as ad as nitro. To be honest when i get mine it will be gas until i can afford the BL components. The SS kit is the best to get right now. The 26cc really scoots. If you actually WON one for free you are lucky.

For sure, a brushless baja will be more powerfull than a gas baja, but i've both, e-revo with a killer brushless setup and a stock 26cc baja, and i'll never remove the gas motor in my baja, is too much fun to ear and smell the Klotz oil in my C-14 gas
