What's the story! -
08.03.2008, 10:22 AM
I have seen For Sale threads in here for ages. They went on undisturbed until recently some are closed with no explanation. I know what the rules say but why the sudden selective enforcement now?
I see several closed then several others allowed to stay open. What makes some so worthy and some not?
Are these threads really causing such a problem that this needs to be done?
Why the traxxas forum style moderation on FS threads? Meaning picking and choosing which ones to enforce the rules on with no explanation.

I really do think we need a seperate for sale area. And if possible make some sub sections within that to define what you are selling like motors, batteries, vehicles, radios, etc just to keep everything seperate. This would be so that the for sale section does not turn out like RC-tech's website were it is just a big pile of sh*t and you cannot find anything and everyone is just bumping all the time. I have found some really good deals on here over the years and it would be a shame for us to lose this benifit.

My 8ight thread was never closed. I only had one closed and tat was the hydra thread which I reposted the next day. I havent had issues since. I think I told BrianG to close the previous 8ight thread do to having a buyer that later on never came threw with the payment...

OK, someone else PMd me this exact question.
With the proliferation of FS threads the last few weeks, I've been trying to be more diligent in following the rules and close new FS threads. I'd rather do this then Mike get fed up with the whole issue and forbid it altogether. During the week, I'm on more often than the weekends, so there might be a couple days where they build up without being closed. I mostly use the "New Posts" link, so I might miss some. Every so often I go through the General Discussion forum and close the ones I see. Also, I skim the threads looking for keywords like "FS", "WTB", "Sale", etc - but might miss some. Sorry for the perceived unfairness.

I am not knocking you Brian, I am just trying to understand. I am just trying to understand if there was some kind of problem that caused this and how is it going to be handled in the future. It seems like you are the only regular moderator anymore with Serum popping in here and there. Honestly this forum self moderates rather well and I can't see the need to come down on the FS threads as of yet. I would have PM'ed this but thought it better for everyone to see and understand.
I would think that mike would not mind as long as you are a customer of his and an active member. I can understand restrictions on new members, non active members and things like that in restricting FS threads.

Yeah, I see your point. Most people exercise common sense, but I'd like to treat everyone fairly. I know Mike checks out the forums from time to time, but may not log in to appear "hidden", so he sees what's going on. If he lets me know that the rules could be relaxed under certain circumstances, I'll be more than happy to do so.
Again, this got prompted because lately there has been an almost dramatic increase in FS postings. Just trying to do my job yet keep the FS feature alive...
