Maybe I' pushing my ESC too much :) -

What do you think? Maybe I should go to something a little bit more capable.
Jokes aside, if anyone has a Castle Link thing to work with a Mamba 25, I'm looking for one. ;) I have a feeling the timing is set way too high and it just needs to be turned down to get it to work. Would high timing cause it to cog on startup, but be fine once it revs up a little bit?
Anyways I need to get busy doing my normal sized servo mod. ;)
Usually, higher timing would provide a bit more power, and motor heat. The cog on startup sounds like maybe the start power is not high enough, or the batteries/connections can't deliver the current required.
I agree 100% with brian, if you cog at first and then take off, it's most likely the batteries can't supply the current. You may also have it geared to the moon. :) What's the setup, I can't see from the pix?
your power wires (wires going from battery to ESC) are way too long....you want them as short as possible...when they are longer this increases resistance. And as Sleebus said telling us your setup would help...your gearing or motor KV could be too high for your batteries......get the Mamba on there the MGM is just adding alo of extra weight for no reason....a Castlelink will run $24
It works perfectly fine with the MGM on there, Its just big and heavy.
w/ the mamba:
It will cog at a standstill and not move at all, but if I give it a little push so its rolling 4 or 5mph and gently accelerate it works and it fine once the rpms go up.
Setup is 10 cell IB1400s on stock gearing. Castle 5400 kv motor. MGM 22418 (the mamba will go back in once I get a chance to look at the settings)
Aw man, I have 3 castle links! I could've just thrown one in the box with your CRT.5! Well, pm me if you want it, just pay for shipping or if you ever head down to the south bay you can pick it up.
I had an RC18 running a 9200kv on 3s lipo with very little cogging. With the right gearing and settings the Mamba 25 is perfect. I'm guessing it's your batteries. how old are they?
I'm pretty sure its the ESC because when I switch it out everything else works perfectly fine. ;) If i can't fix it by messing with the settings I'll just send it in to be replaced. I bought it used and this is how its been since i got it.

in order to "mess with the settings" you need a castlelink and I am 99% sure that will fix your problem
