CRT X1 CENTER DIFF 62t VS. 46T ??? - 09.12.2008, 07:00 PM

Hey guys ,i'm working on my truggy conversion and was woundering if there are any pro's or con's with running either the stock 62t or switching to the Kyosho 46t center diff gear ??...i have both so i was just curious which the better option would be and why ??..i'm running the stock front and rear diff gears now ...but eventually will do the hot bodies LST ring and pinion conversion. Thanks for any info or advise on this (neu 1515 2.5 w/MMM on 5s...if this info helps any )

the 62t is big, and noisy! that huge gear is dangerous for the wires, i switched to the 46t and love it, it is super quiet

i think it will throw the gearing way out of wack. big greg did you do the hotbodies gears in the diffs?

the 46t tooth gear is smaller than the 62t one and will will give you higher gearing (for the same pinion size), and one is made of plastic, the other hardened steel. Pretty sure thats most of the differences

You will probably want to change your pinion afterward. To keep the same gearing: if you want to go from 62 to 46 on the spur, you want a pinion as close to 0.74x the size of what you were running. To go from 46 to 62, you want it to be as close to 1.35x times the size of what you were running.

thanks guys for all the help ....would it be beneficial to do the front and rear HB ring and pinion diff conversion with the 46t gear ?? and is that all the parts that would be needed (HB LST RING AND PINION ) to do the swap on my CRT diffs ??..thanks again guys for the help

...edit...would this be all i need to do the HB conversion on the CRT x1 ??

dont bother buying any new parts yet till your old ones break, they probably never will. I've never heard of anyone damaging any diff gears except the diff pinion gear, so wait to see if it brakes before getting new ones. If you do go the LST diff route, you will only need the ring and pinion because they are helical cut - so if you just get the pinion it wont mesh probably with the ring gear you have (I think, most of them arent helical). What you link is the entire diff, you dont need all of it.

ok, new problem guys...i went with the 46 center gear ....with the 1515 2.5 finned motor ,in order to use a small enough pinion ( i bought a 10,11,12,13 )to get close to 40 mph the only pinion that will fit is the 13(which will put me at about 45 mph)...if i use the 12t (optimum gear @ 41 mph )the fins of the motor will hit the rear center brace...so ...to you guys running the CRT X1 using the small spur gear ...are you grinding down the center brace ??...or just running 13 or larger pinions ?? thanks ,i hope this makes sense ...lol...cause now i'm confused....thanks again for helping a noob out
....this will be mainly just for the track ,so i'm aiming for about 35 to 40 mph....is this about right for a truggy ??

what motor mount do you have? i have the 10t on mine and it touches it but its the plastic one still so it moves out of the way, wierd that only the 13t will fit
