Sidewinder and HPI esc - 09.15.2008, 10:47 PM

Hey guys, Im wanting to buy a sidewinder, and saw the HPI version, it has bullet plugs built into the esc (like a mini MMM) and like that way alot more then the wires soldered right to the esc, makes wiring the car easier.

Is it the same speedo? If I use a external BEC, is it going to handle 4s like the sidewinder? Its going in my crt.5

Aparantly they are. Haven't heard of anyone running them on 4S. Might have to check with HPI on the warranty before attempting to

JohnRob ran a sidewinder on 4s with an external bec. I am not sure what motor it was, but I think it was an outrunner, and may have been in a crawler. I would think that the sidewinder and 4s would be good for about 35mph in the .5, if you keep it light. So use a small lipo, like a 2500-3000 4s pack...

What motor?

Finnster I believe it is runs one in his crt.5 on 4s with a medusa motor

Im going to be running a NEU 1509, 2400kv. Car will be pretty light, with small lipos for sure

Im gearing for 40, and going for it lol. If it blows up, then I dont have the castle customer service do I?

Take the sticker off when you send it in...

You may be fine with the high eff neu motor. It will not tax the esc as hard as a cheapo motor will. Give it a try, at worst you may need a fan on the esc...
