Neu motor support? - 10.05.2008, 05:22 AM

I heard a while back that support for Neu motors is now going through Castle Creations. Does this apply to repairs as well? I put my Tekno RC edition Neu 1515 1.5D in my Hyper BL conversion and I think the screws I used were too long as the motor got really hot really fast (when I checked the temps it was at 230). I put on shorter screws and held it off the ground and held full throttle for about 2 seconds and smoke started spewing out the back end of the motor so it is definitely shot Needless to say I'm pissed right now, but I want to get it fixed.

Can I ship it back to Castle and have them fix it for me, or do I need to try to get in touch with Neu motors themselves and ship it back to them?

On the other hand...can it even BE fixed? The smoke is the enamel coating on the wires in the stator frying off and that's a pretty serious part of the motor (not removable, IIRC). Think I will be stuck with dishing out another $260 for a new Neu?

No, repairs are directly to Neu - I would imagine the same for the Tekno version but you may want to contact them first.

Questionable though if they will cover all of this - If the damage was caused by you shorting the windings they may not cover this but looks like you get a new one at 50% off.

NeuMotors are warranted to be free of defects in materials or workmanship for a period of 1 year from the date of purchase to the original buyer. This warranty does not cover damage due to misuse, damage from crashes or vibration.
See the Contact us page for information on how to send a motor back for repair. Please download and fill out the service request form.

After the warranty period we offer a no questions asked 50% of retail price replacement for motors that are damaged beyond repair.

I'm not expecting my motor to be under warranty or anything, I was wondering if they could repair it. The screws look to be 11mm from the bottom of the cap to the end. I was using the RC-M motor mount for an Ofna Hyper.
