This scared the pants off me - 10.13.2008, 11:09 AM

Thats a craftsman Infared temp gun..

As i have learned it is susceptible to radio interference in the 75mhz range... I was casually checking the temps of my rf module on my M8, when i read 300*+!!!!

Needless to sat i almost threw the transmitter, i quickly turned it off and checked temps again- they had plummeted to a managable 114*. Then of course i had to turn it back on and see if it would do the same, it did and temp gun indicated 300 degrees. so... i did what any Rc'er would do- stick there finger on it... and since it didnt melt flesh i was pretty confident that it wasnt 300 degrees . Does anyone else have problems like this?

Since they use infrared light, they may be susceptible to error in direct sunlight, or any light source heavy in infrared light (not UV). Course, it also depends on the angle the light hits the object and makes its way to the temp sensor...

I'm kinda confused by the belt comment too - figured it was a provate joke and didn't want to look dumb by asking.

You got it!

I often read the thread titles and immediately think of something funny to say, but do not bother, as I am not the first to post and often it would not make much sense...

Good one Harold!
