Brushed motor question - 10.17.2008, 12:22 AM

We have a vintage class in which we run stock brushed motors. What is the max temp before I have to back off on the gearing?

Thanks!

What are the magnets made from? Neodym cook pretty easily, cobalt are much more heat resistant but if there ferrite you really can't hurt them, I built a wireframe on road car using bits of my broken hornet when I was a kid, I rewound the 21 turn stock motor to a 3 turn double and ran it on 12 cells for a while, it would melt the solder on the com and throw a winding after about a minute and a half and needed skimming and new brushes every week but it was hella fast and I never managed to permanently kill that motor, I got tired of the maintenance in the end and put a speed 600 in it which was still stupidly fast but not idioticcrazyinsanestupidmentallyderanged fast and I got bored and went boat racing before I burned it out
