K now there are 2 things that can be alloy. i have the HPI alloy diff cases that hold the spider gears and i have the FLM bulks. Between them and properly shimming i have yet to replace diff gears years i have had the truck. Ans the flm bulks have only been on for about 6 months.
I fly, I drive, but most of all I crash.

The hpi alloy diff cups (hold the spider gears) are a must. I also plan to buy the flm combo case/bulks for my flm chassis. Shimming the ring and pinion properly is a must for any vehicle, especially a heavy monster truck.

I agree with linc, the HPI cast-aluminum diff cups really do help.
My Savage has run on the same diffs ever since I got it used (except I added the diff cups). It's got an extended FLM low-CG chassis, center differential with 100k oil, was using 10s2p A123 (now 9s1p), was using a KB-45 10XL geared for 70mph, and a CC HV-110 ESC.

I use the X diff cases with aluminum cups. Propperly shimmed and I have yet to blow a ring or pinion. I have however fractured a spider. (I have no idea how I managed to do that either).

I'm currently doing the Cen Gen conversion. Has anyone else done this and still had a problem with their diffs? I would like to stay away from any aluminum parts, like the bulkheads.
