The ultimate bash car? - 11.16.2008, 07:07 PM

Lets get some opinions going here. I know if I ask 10 guys, I will get 20 opinions. But Just posting up

So far, I have this

Savage, FLM conversion
E revo, G maxx(with CD) or E revo chassis
or E maxx with the cool direct drive CD chassis

Any other cars you guys think would be better? Im going to be beating the hell out of these things, I want something that will last, run for 30-40 mins and be somewhat simple on the wallet,

with that said, easy on the wallet pretty much takes the Emaxx out of the running lol. The savage is huge, and tough. And really when its all priced out isnt that much money. E revos are sweet (especially BOR's)

Anyone want to put there 2 cents in?

savages are TOUGH, so are emaxxs and revo when built right, but a savage is the definiton of the word tough in r/c cars.

i agree with the XL savage coversion, but how are you gonna get 30-40 minutes of runtime out of a truck that size??? im sure youll be using atleast 6s and a 1515 or 1521 but will and 6s 5000 get that good of runtime in that large of a truck???

I've had a couple Savages, and to me the Erevo is by far a better option.I've bashed the crap out of it for months now and only broke a couple tie rods, and a drive shaft.

E-REVO - They're tough trucks, but 30-40 minutes is gonna be tough unless ur gearing for about 20!

flm savage, since you toss all the xl specific parts with the flm conversion (assuming you also get flm extended arms) you can start with an old .21 or .25 savvy and get by way cheap

i agree the savage is great, the revo will always have diff problems if you put anything powerful in it.

the other great basher would be the LST2

30-40 mins is simple, using a 3 speed trans, with mech brakes, and im gearing for 35, MAYBE 40-45. But thats just getting stupid fast for a huge truck with giant tires IMO

The Revo wouldnt get that much run time. Maybe 30 mins. I race electric and nitro touring cars, I have a nice smooth drive style, so that boosts my runtime. I dont gear for more then 40 really. My touring cars hual ass LOL (Mod TC, 3.5 and lipo, and the gas car with a power house modded RB R3, and the 2spd), thats my speed and adrenaline(sp?). Racing is my main thing, but during the week, and after school I need something. For my bash truck its reliable, it will get the crap beaten out of it, but I think 40 is more then enough to launch it LOL

I want to stay more stock. The fLM arms are SICK, but do they make sense on such a big truck? All the alu on this car will be anodized black, so I dont mind the arms, I just worry about breaking other parts that are more expensive and harder to replace?

I dont know what motor will be powering it, but I dont want to trash diffs all the time, I will run less power if I need to, but I dont want to be blowing money on diff gears, and drive shafts

BB-

Thanks guys

I have everything you listed. Nothing against the savage, but you want the flm combo bulks for it, as it will eat diffs with the stock plastic cases. If your savage gets heavy this will be worse.

I have to say that my lst2 has proven much stronger than the savage. Plus I prefer the layout on the lst than the savage. I have the flm kit and it is nice, but I prefer the simplicity of esc brakes and reverse. The MMM has no issue running the hacker c50 xl and the 1521, so I see no need for multi speed trannys and mech brakes, especially for 40mph.

The erevo is pretty good too, better than a stock maxx, but not as beefy as the lst. Lst diffs and the al cases are great, easy to shim and about the best thing I have seen in a monster truck.

Make sure you get the lst2 arms hubs and driveshafts. All of the other variants have the weaker lst1 parts. Or get a muggy, those are good too.
