Losi 2.4GHz Tx and Spektrum SR3000 - Is it possible?

Hi all, I've been reading conflicting reports all over the net about the Losi 2.4ghz Tx working with the Spektrum SR3000 Rxs. I'm thinking of buying a Mini LST2, which uses the Losi 2.4ghz, and if I can use the Tx with my other vehicles (when a mate wants to drive one of my vehicles), then I'll be killing two, possibly three, birds with the same stone. If anyone can give me a definite answer I'd be most obliged.

Edit: I should mention that I currently use a Spektrum DX3.0, to avoid much confusion.

I run a spektrum DX3.0 2.4ghz and it uses a SR3000 Rx, so yes it does work. It also works with the stock receiver in the Losi Mini Monster Baja, which comes stock with a 2.4 Tx, you just have to bind them. I've got the 3000 in my e-aftershock and use the stock receiver in my MMB.

I use a losi tx with a spektrum rx and spektrum tx with losi rx - no issues

Heh change it now if you can. I don't think I've heard of anyone ever liking a MLST2. You have to replace the servo and diff gears every couple of runs, and every 5 min if you do any kind of power system upgrade. Worst design ever.

I would recommend something else as well. The big difference between the mlst2 and most of the other 18ths is the weight. The mlst2 weights a tonne and the drivetrain wasn't designed to cope. The centre tranny is out of a mini-t basically and they weigh half as much as the mlst.

Nikko make a better r/c than the mlst. It is about worthless, even stock. It does look cool, but that is about it. If you want a 18th scale buy a rc18mt. These are great trucks and can handle brushless with some simple mods. If you really want a good toy, buy a stampede, lots more fun than a 18th scale.

MLST diffs suck. Even the viscus metal gear diffs can't handle the stock motors for long, and the servos do not seem to last. I have 2. Drive line upgrades on both. 2 RC18Ts also. Great little trucks. 1 with the mamba 8000 combo.That little guy has my longest jump under it's belt.The losi spectrum and dx spectrum work together. You can get the losi ones on ebay cheap TX and RX combos for the same price as a spectrum RX.and they work well,Horizon owns both, just no bells and whistles, but for bashing who really cares.

I thought the diff and servo woes had disappeared with the MLST2. I was going to replace the center diff with a spool or just jb weld it in place, because I like wheelies. I did consider the RC18 series but I've heard so many tales of about ball diffs and how they have to be rebuilt constantly. Other than the 2.4ghz radio setup, the diffs were my other main reason for wanting an MLST2. And I used to own a rustler, but I wanted a smaller more portable car, but larger than my micro-t.

I put a spool in the centre and it just makes the diffs strip even easier. I'm pretty sure the servo's are the same. It's a stupid setup, they should have used a single mid size or normal size servo, they just wanted to use two so it looked scale.

The ring/pinion stripping was solved by using metal ring/pinion in the mlst2, but the internal gears are still plastic and are pathetically weak. If you run a centre spool you will definitely have diff problems, even with a totally stick nimh setup. Not only that but depending on outside temps you will be constantly thermalling the esc - I thought mine was faulty and losi just said 'dont use full throttle much and it wont happen'. nice fix lol.

Well that certainly puts a spanner in the works. Who wants an R/C you can't blip the throttle on? I have to admit I drive my R/Cs in mostly a dumb fashion, nearly always wheelies and stoppies on my e-revo and e-maxx. I guess I will be making a revision in my letter to Santa after all. If only traxxas would come out with their half scalers already, I wouldn't be in such a dilemma. I really appreciate everyone's input and preventing me from making a regrettable purchase.

Is the Trinity NOW any good?

The Losi metal viscus diff pinions still strip quickly with the stock motors.My Rc 18s have plastic diff gears and never stripped one. The trinity is the same basic desighn as the RC18s, but a test I read claimed that with a brushless setup the chassis would twist under acceleration due to soft plastic. Other than that they said it was good, but they said that about the MLST also. I did hear first hand the duratrax mini quake ia a good truck and can handle brushless power well and is durable. The RC18s have the best upgrades and very durable. Google the ones you are interested in and check the forum threads that come up to see what peopla say good and bad. The mini zilla from hotbodies is another.It lacks oil filled shocks but seems tough. Here is a vid of a brushless mini zilla, there are also RC18s. Castle brushless powered to boot.
