Hi everyone

Ive just come into possession of a Castle MMM 2200kv combo

what I noticed is that the motor is quite stiff to turn by hand (the shaft)

I turned my friends feigao motor and its very smooth

Anyone with a Neu/castle Neu get the same stiffness?

It's most likely just because of the stronng magnets NEU uses

Yes they are like the original neus very hard to turn over. Perfectly normal enjoy!

Was really looking forward to a nice bash this weekend. It would suck it i had to go through another 3 week turnaround

These combo motors have a stiffer feel simular to the older Neu 1515 series.

Yep, that makes a ton of difference. Much more of a "notchy" feel from the narrowly focused magnetic field compared to a wide magnetic field focus in a slotless...

Hmm thats odd i recently got a tekno neu and its very easy to turn. Much easier then my Medusa. it runs great though so I guess its normal. Just not allot notchiness at all

I seem to recall reading that tekno neus have different slot spacing, and a few other people like you noted that they arent quite as notchy feeling when you rotate the shaft by hand.

my tekno neu is very easy to turn over compared to the castle version. I figured it might be do to it being a 3d compared to the 1y of the castle.

I had a smaller Neu and it was almost impossible to turn the shaft by hand because it's slotted and the shaft was like 2mm.

It seems to depend on the wind too. My 1512 2d turns a little harder than my 1512 2.5d...

OMG.

Just came back from a run on 2 x 3s Zippy 5000's.. The speed is AMAZING. Couldn't go full throttle ..the front end just wouldnt stay down

This discussion came up when the tekno neus were released. They are very smooth compaired to the origional neu design. I think that Neu updated their design, and the new ones (even the non-tekno ones) are all smooth.

Maybe they sold their old (notchy) design to castle?

I wonder if they widened the "slot" to make it easier for Castle ESCs to use? Aircraft is easier since there isn't a loaded startup to worry about. A wider slot would make it far less notchy.
