hi all...new to this forum so hello to all. im going to convert my e maxx 3906 to sensorless brushless and like the sound of the mmm combo 2200kv. but im not shure what batterys to use, i mean i want lipos but is there different types of lipos with different voltages? if so which is best to use? i think im going to go with 5s as i like a fast m/t but dont want it uncontrollable. is there any benefit to running two lipo 5s in seires (apart from the mah) or is it best to use one pack at a time? also what about a charger. is there a good/better charger on the market than the rest? do i really need a discharger too? thanks all. its all a bit confusing to me atm.

What emaxx do you have? I have a gmaxx with a 1515 1Y 2200Kv running on a pair of 3S 5000mah for a total of 6S. The speeds are insane. This is basically my speed truck.
ANy enerland-based lipos such as Neu, Flightpower, Polyquest just to name a few are the best packs out there. Then are are also cheap lipos which are getting good reviews such as Zippy and Rhino.
If you run 2 5S lipos in series, it will become 10S which will smoke your ESC. You want to run it in parallel to increase mah(runtime) while keeping it at 5S. I use a pair of packs to balance the weight on both sides of my truck.
There are different good chargers out there such as Astro, Hyperion. I'm using a Hyperion Duo which charges a pair of batteries at the same time. No, you don't need a discharger.
Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)

Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ

hi george/all...thanks for the reply, i have an original 3906 e max with the pro line wide kit, full mip cvd kit, rear diff lock and ally bulkheads (fastlane i think). in the pipeline is a 40 - 50mm chassis stretch and 13mm offset rims.
love the look of the g maxx chassis but want to retain original ground clearence. also think i will need ally diff casings and maybe ally g/box and steel cogs.
yer parallel 5s, lol dont want no fires.
i trust enerland is a battery company?
ive looked at a hyperion charger on a main hobbies (is that a good place to shop they sent my maximizer rims through fine, good price too) looking at EOS0606i charger will that one be ok?
also was looking at protek lipos. 5s 30c 4500mah the supreme power range will they be ok? these produce 135a is that enough for mmm 2200kv combo?
as for usage it will be bashing more than all out speed.
thanks, chris
Any pack 5s 25c will work well. If you run say 2x 5s 25c 3000mah in parallel you will get a 5s 25c 6000mah which will still be light and give good runtime. Which emaxx do you have ? as that limits the size of the lipo you can get, the new 3905 emaxx the lipo cant be longer than 160mm or wider than 45mm.. The rc-monster.com store has some great lipo and great chargers
hi all...thanks for all your suggestions i will look into them but for the 2200kv mamba combo will it run ok on 15c lipos? i thought i would need at least 25c if not 30c lipos?
also what's the difference between lithium lipos, lipoly and lifepo4/a123 apart from the obvious voltage difference? whats the 123a bit ive seen this alot on lipo packs, is it the constant amps.
Personally I would run 4s with the mmm 2200kv combo. 5s will be a bit on the crazy side! Running 4s will still safely get you into the 40+mph range. Most any battery that can handle 125 amps continuous should be fine. Two 2s backs of at least 5000mah ran in series would prolly be your best bet, IMO.
Hyperion makes a great line of chargers. The 0610 or the duo would be your best bet. The 0606 is only a 50w charger, it will work fine, it will just take longer to charge your batteries.
