Received my 9920/8xl and ib3800's today - have a couple of sand running questions

I received my Bl and new batts today (thanks mike!)

I havnt run it yet, but one thing I am worried about, is on the endbell, where the wires go into the motor, there is quite a bit of open space for junk (mostly worried about sand) to get in.

I ruined a novak ss5800 motor because of sand, and really dont want to toast this one because of the same reason!

I think what happened with my novak, was sand got built up around the extra screw mounting holes, and then once i set it on my workbench, the sand fell inside (sand + motor = very unhappy motor) My original plan for this motor, was to put two cap head screws in the unused holes, and then mount the motor. I know someone on another board did some testing that resulted in having metal washers (head of a cap screw should be the same) between the motor and the mount, showed better cooling, then the motor flush against the mount. The only problem I see with this, is that it wont be as secure as having the flats against each other. I was thinking I could use a grub screw, but then I have a big fear of that grub screw ending up down inside the motor (dosnt seem very likely, worth trying??)

I also noticed the motor dosnt have a flat spot on the shaft. I really dont see how a pinion could grip a round shaft? Is it pretty common to just make your own flat for the grub screw to lock down against?

I am about as excited as a 9 year old who was just given the keys to a monster truck! I cant wait to run this thing!
