BL Mammoth......but no brakes.

Ive just converted an XTM Mammoth monster truck to brushless.Because its a 2 speed and i dont have a 2 speed pinion gear,Ive mounted the motor so it drives the larger of the 2 spurs,the 65t.But the problem is that i have forward but no brakes or reverse.Ive tried programing the 9920 to forward and brake with no luck.Ive done nitro to brushless conversions before but never with a 2 speed set-up,am i missing something here? Thanks

You need to lock it into one gear. The one-way bearing won't allow rotation (or braking force) opposite it's forward direction.

I'd have to look closely at a Mammoth 2-speed since I've never seen one. Some creative epoxying or J.B.Weld will often handle it.:027:

Or, you could switch out the two speed for a center diff. It would improve handling and lock it into one gear :).

Check out the set-up in the mamoth pro. I believe it comes with a center diff so those parts should be drop in.

Problem solved....I hope.A nitro RCer heard me mention my project an offered some advice.Since Ive never owned a nitro vehicle I didnt know that the 2 speed diff works with a clutch that basicly "floats" in a situation like mine,which is why I only had one direction and no brakes.So after taking the diff apart,removing one spur gear then J.B.Welding the clutch assembly to the support shaft,rendering the diff a single speed,operating in either direction and brakes too.As of this message Ive only run it on my work bench so Im keeping my fingers crossed.

Mission accomplished.After much bashing the J.B.Welding seems to have solved my problems,full forward,reverse and brake.Only one drawback,a very noticable slack in forward to reverse and vice versa.but not to the point of ruining my bash-fest.Thanks for your responses.

a bit off topic but what motor mount did you use?
