Savage Flux on 6S -
03.01.2009, 02:16 PM
I took my Flux out today to try it out on 6S (2 x 3S 25C 4900mAh Neu Lipos). I swapped the stock tires for my Badlands and strapped the GPS to it to check it out. Where I run usually is a large open field with very very short grass. I didn't want to go crazy with it, so I stuck with the stock 20T pinion and made a few runs. During the first couple of runs I learned that if you aren't absolute delicate with the throttle, it's going over backwards immediately. Along with that, once you hit full throttle, this thing damn near just skates sideways and will get going the wrong way in a hurry. Did I mention the big ass grin on my face when I was doing this?
Anyhow, I ended up with a high of 53.8mph. Taking into account that it was on grass with the stock gearing, I certainly can't complain. I have absolutely no doubt this truck is good for another 10mph on asphalt with a change in gearing and tires. That being said, 6S is just too much to bash with without gearing way down (which isn't easy given the gearing options and motor adjustability for this truck). I plan to primarily run 4S and 5S in this truck to bash with, with the occasional step to 6S just for the speed thrill.
Oh, and I broke my first part on it today...right rear knuckle. Luckily the truck uses the same knuckles all the way around, so if I want to run it again without waiting on the part, all I have to do is swap the left and right knuckles and I'm on my way.
