Hobbywing 80A on a e-crt.5 - 03.10.2009, 10:05 PM

Hi guys, I plan to use Hobbywing(HW) 80A esc pair with 2300kv 5mm shaft motor with 3S Lipo on the e-crt.5. Do you guy think it will fit nicely? I plan to use bigger pinion so that I can get ~35000rpm for the speed. Do that bigger pinion can reduce the torque a lot? If anyone of you do use HW 80A esc on your e-crt.5 please show me your conversion. Thanks.

It is a big esc - MM is normally enough - 2300kv on 11.1v = 26,000 rpm.

The 3300kv 50mm medusa would be a better bet

Thanks for the reply.

I have low budget and cant afford for a medusa motor. If i use bigger pinion, can I get ~35000rpm?Please advise. thanks.

RPM is a factor of voltage and motor KV - You can gear up with a bigger pinion to get the speed you are looking for - An 18T should give you about 30mph with stock 2.2 tires

oppp! Sorry, yeah...what I mean is the speed By the way I plan to get ~40 - 50km/h that mean using 15T pinion. So may I know with 15T pinion, can I have good torque when out of turn? Thanks from all your advise. I am new on electric

I would be careful about using such a physically large ESC as it will sit rather high which is a potential danger zone should you land square on the lid. A MM with a UBEC if running over 2s would be ideal size-wise.

And I know you said you can't afford a Medusa, but honestly, they are about as good as you're gonna get for the price. Save up a couple/few weeks, you won't be disappointed. The cheap motors (Feigao and similar) are less efficient and you can really tell by the heat they produce.

Ideally, a MM with a Medusa 36-50-3300 running on 3s lipo with a UBEC would be the best bet IMO.

I have the hobbywing 150A (same size as 80A) currently installed in a 1/8. I also have a CRT.5.

Although I havent tried to install the 150A onto the CRT.5, but from my observations, the ESC is too BIG! This ESC is really designed to be used in 1/8 scale.

A good sized ESC for the CRT.5 would be the MM or 60A/120A hobbywing and run 2S or 3S.

Hi, if I using 60A HW esc can this medusa will nicely pair up together with 3S? Medusa is 3 or 5mm shaft? Do you ship to Malaysia?
