Trying to find a good accurate easy to use Milling machine under $2000.
If there is a more proper place or a subject already on this issue, please let me know where it is
I know there a few of you in this forum that own a machine or work in a machine shop.
So I was hoping on some feedback on some machines.
Last year I spent months of extensive research on this matter. (i'll have to dig up my notes and reply back)
Anyway I went to numerous sites like practical machinists forum.
They all say to find an old machine that was british made or spend the extra money $2k plus on a machine
I even considered Shop master and there Combo Bridemill / lathe machine , USA designed but built in Japan or China
Others like Rong Fu or Accura made in Taiwan
Many machines called Mill Drill are basically glorified drill presses.
Many do not have Tapered roller bearings.
Seems that a lot of machines are very cumbersome on changing speeds like Shopfox, Rong fu, Accura.
I have put my small Bench top JET drill press through more tasks than it is designed for but it has done a good job. I know it's bad on bearings to do Milling or lathe work, but only done small aluminum and steal shafts and milling on HDPE or Delrin and using the best Carbide bits. Pics below what have been done on the drill press. It's for the real thing
Anybody here have milling machine Drill Mill and gone through the decision making ?
check out threads in the brushless section by candyman2. his last creation used a home mill which he swore by for like $300. It talks about it in his thread...

That one is certainly small and easy to use, good for light and small jobs
Those little ones are also found at harbor freight which are poor quality.
I was thinking something a bit more powerful, 2hp be able to cut steel
The green one below has front adjustable speed changes
the white Shop fox, made in taiwan you have to climb ontop and loosen bolt , change belts and re tighten bolt in order to change speeds.
