Speed Passion 1/8th Help

Anybody know anything about the Speed Passion 1/8th stuff? My buddy jsut got a Speed Passion setup with the sensored 2100 motor. You can not program it with the program box, program it to the radio, and none of the lights or anything come on with the sensor wires plugged up. You unplug the sensor wires and everything works. You can program it to the radio, use the programming box, the lights come on, and it will move but it cogs like crazy.
