Savage conversion:which medusa motor -
04.27.2009, 05:18 AM
Hello, deciding on which motor to get for my savage converison.I have a savage x at the moment looking to convert it to brushless.
Im planning to run 4s,probably some zippy packs. Now are their any Medusa motors that will compare to the cc 2200kv motor, thought hat is lower priced?
Where is the cheapest place on can pickup a MMM esc?I have found them for $138 on ebay.
cheers nathan

Medusa 80mm should throw it round whilst staying cool. From what I hear it's pretty close to castleneu. Your ebay scout sounds on the mark to me but i'm not that clued up on prices.

i doubt you will find a better price on a MMM than that. A 80mm medusa would be the way to go, prolly around 2000kv.

you can get the MMM 2200kv motor for $140 on e-bay. it is the same price as the medusa and you don't have to seal up any ventilation holes.
They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

I also vote for a 80mm Medusa....1800-2000kv
1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

Dunno about the medusa motors... I would go with the 2200 castle motor myself. Larger diameter rotor means more torque and as mentioned the cc neu is sealed, and has spiffy long wires with big ole bullet connectors. Plus I have seen the cc neu in action on a savage and it had no issues throwing that truck around.

Ok well your right after more research i found out thethe 2200kv castle is the same price and a proven setup...
I had this other idea that would give me just as good preformance wise for cheaper.
How about a feigao motor(8XL 9XL or 10 XL?) with zippy 6s 5000mah 25c lipos?
It will work out about $50 cheaper for me(I live in Australia) and should give just as good as preformance as 2200kv on 4s .
Would i have any problems with this setup?
Should i lock the 4.6 tranny?Which size feigao? What size pinion with 47t spur?
