I have been looking to get an airbrush for quite some time now and after looking at HarborFreight they have some sweet deals. I own a large air compressor for my buisness and there is no possibility of me moving it to my house and not having one at the shop so I have a theoritical(sp?) solution. I plan on buying this:

and I will hook it up to this for air pressure(I can refill it when need as I go to the shop about everyday):

My question is will this work? What will I need to hook the air tank to the air brush? Also is this a good brush?

Wow that is a good deal! I have an antique small compressor that would work perfectly. I also have an air tank that would do as well.

how about a small pancake compressor?...it could be a real hassle moving the tank and I dont know how long a full tank of air would last.

I considered a small compressor but I wanted to have the ability to bring something with me to the track(just a track and a open field/park where people park around the track).

Would this work for an adapter for the air tank(from tire size outlet to the airbrush sized outlet):

That's the same air brush I bought a while back from HF. It works good, make sure you clean it well after you use it. I didn't do to good of a job and had to dismantle it to clean it. There was more little parts then I was aware of. Pay attention to the trigger, it has a part that can fall out if you take the long pin out of the air brush. It took several tries to get it working again.

That adapter will work to connect 1/4 to 1/8 air line but the air brush doesn't come with the 1/8th air hose. It has a 1/8 nipple for the line but that's it. I used a 2' long piece of fuel tubing I had.

Skip the tank. You'll do better by trying to find a used pancake on craigslist. You wont be able to maintain a consistent pressure for very long. That's another thing you'd need to purchase - a flow regulator.

I'll look into a panckake compressor and a regulator. I was thinking after I was done painting I could just run some water and WD-40 through the system(instead of paint). Is this sufficent or should I do a complete tear down?

it allready has a nice air regulator

I've only used the Faskolor paint. It cleans up with hot water. Jeffs right about the tank it would loose pressure and you always be adjusting your brush due to it. It would be a pain to use it that way but if you were close to a air compressor you could get by with it until you get a little air compressor.

Yea I might as well but the air compressor. I'll post up some ipods for sale on here sooner than later so I can try this stuff out. Most likely i'll buy at harborfreight(one is local to me)so could you guys point me in the right direction of a good one to buy. I'm not looking to spend more than $100 and it'll be used for the airbrush and the occasional air gun to use on my car. Also to refill this really cool thing I found! Check it out guys:

You can fill it with anything(i'm thinking simplegreen)and once the air compression is out you can just refill it!

I just got the part number now I know i'll need that adapter(the one all the way to the top) but what else would I need for it(water sepetator?air regulator?)

That one already has a good regulator on it. I've never used a water seperator - but I dont do a LOT of airbrushing. I open up the drain on mine every time I use it, and have never had an issue with water in the air system. I guess if you live in an area that has really high humidity, then it might be needed more.

When you go to purchase them, test fit all the air connectors just to make certain you have the correct ones.

If that's the compressor your going to get is should have a air regulator on it.

I'll get the water seperator. I am planning on painting about 6 bodys in the comming months so it'll prob. be needed. I'll get the airfilter and the airhose depending on how much I have left on my budget(i'm getting a fs post for my ipods right now so that should allow me to get what I need).
