I building a topspeed project truck.I know the BK 36120 can handle 8 lipo cells, but I'm looking for a Wanderer XL motor that can also handle 8 cells.I already have a 9XL that does great on 6 cells but I don't know about 8 cells. Thanks in advance for your input.

If your looking at just doing speed runs, the 9XL might be up to the job. But if you want to drive this thing around normally, I would go no higher than an 11XL (10XL at a push).

The 36 cell controllers have a 42000 rpm limit, so the motor selection must acount for this(keep rpms in the 35-40k range for the best results). 8s Lipo will be a rocketship for sure!
The 11xl or higher wind (12xl or 13xl for example)would be the place to start for this kind of voltage.

I guess because I cut my "brushless teeth" on Feigao/BK combos,I loved the performance so much I never strayed to far from them.I'ved tried several motor upgrades and am now toying with Lipo.Maybe someday I'll make that really big jump and plunge into the Lehner world.Advise well take though.
