Pinion questions - 06.29.2009, 03:29 AM

Just wanted to know which way to put on the pinion gear? i have seen some that mount it in diff directions. gear facing out and gear facing in. whats the reason for this?

Whatever gets it lined up best with the spur. Sometimes you have to flip it around if the spur is close to the motor plate.

I like to keep the grub screw side towards the motor to keep as much weight as possible as close to the bearing as possible. I don't know that it really matters, but that's the way I've always tried to keep my pinion on.

Well if you're still running the Tekno converion, you'll need their long shank pinions and theres only 1 way to install these and make it work.

havent moved everything over to the tekno kit just yet,ran my truck in a little race we had here and just couldnt bring my lazy ass to move anything yet. damn this 8t is forgiving.
