slash revamp into a Basher BUG - 06.04.2009, 09:41 PM

Well ive been drooling over the new proline vw bug bodies (loved them ever since the hpi rs4mt came with a bug body) so since my slash isnt worth crap to sell and my 3s setup isnt good for racing i figured id keep the little stinker and make it my go to tough truck.....

so i was thinking about ditching my custom chassis (its heavy as hell) and too low for bashing and getting a new stock chassis, then loose the rear bumper in favor of an aluminum wheelie bar style skid (minus the wheelie bar) then of course the proline vw bug body (paint it like herbie or somthin ) then pull out my 2.2inch badlands tires on front offset wheels all around and then fix the only two weak links left on the truck by installing the new STRC locknut hinge pins and the new beefier style MIP cvds..... its already got 1/8th shocks, alm hubs, flm tranny, and rpm towers, 1313 servo, 9L, mm w/bec...

so i could revamp the truck for like $75 with all that and then get another 3s out of a puffed pack... and illl have me a beater bug!

what do yall think? i was thinking its gonna look pretty sick with the badlands and that bug body.... did you guys know those bug bodies are .060 thick that thing is gonna be tough! Herbie style with a 13 painted on the side should look sick!

any ideas?

Sounds like a neat project. Not sure about a better paint scheme though... maybe camo?

DONE! YAY!

it has a tekin 8.5/rs setup on 2s nue 5000 in it now but when i get a 3s lipo back from james (they are in the mail) ill be back in business with the 9l and mm, also i dont have the cvds on there yet but they should be here anyday, theyve been on backorder from the dealer for awhile now.....and theyll definetly be needed for teh 3s setup but a pair of new sliders is holding up OK for now with the tekin 8.5..... if its blue or white its paint.

and yes this body is thick! i thought i was never gonna get through it with the body scissors....
