mmm v3 thermaling issue - 07.17.2009, 12:55 PM

I went and put the castle link software on my comp and plugged in my MMM V3 and all I did was set the batt cutoff to 4s and punch control to 50%... now it has been in my 68 deg office all day and I plug her in to try it out at lunch and instantly literally 4ft from me it goes into what must be thermal mode... the esc lights are blinking and the fan is on, as soon as the light goes to orange solid the fan goes off and it will go another 4ft and then the fan comes on and the lights are flashing again.... this thing isn't over 80 deg it's cool to the touch... what's going on????

Try reinstalling the firmware with the CL. Save your settings first. I have heard of a few instances where changing settings resulted in a glitch of sorts.

Did you set the lvc correctly? For 12v? Is your battery fully charged? If the MMM is not really hot it is not thermalling. Solid orange led is the lvc, IIRC.

Thanks linc I went and read Tom's status led meanings and it was the LVC kicking in... my BRAND new 1 run zippy seems to have a bad cell..... uuggghhhh I charged it and it is only at 12.1v..... my luck.... looking like my other BRAND new zippy might be the same too did a 5-10 play with it and threw it on the charger and and only 3 of the 4 lights came on.... saying one cell is already fully charged... I checked this pack before running and it was at 16.3v, before on the charger it was at 15.4 so I'm going to check when it comes off..... any suggestions guys, should I email hobbycity????

That really stinks.... Maybe Linc can fix the Zippy for you. It isn't cost effective to return it to HC. If you can get them to ship you another for free then go for it.
