Smile MBX6T Conversion or Baja 5B SS - 08.05.2009, 07:18 PM

I'm getting a job after I turn 16 in September and I'm going to start saving for my next RC. My orginal plan was to do a 1/8 Truggy conversion but after adding everything up it came to a total of $1200 which is enough to get a HPI Baja 5B SS.

So now I'm stuck between the two...

I already have a 2.4ghz 3ch radio so if I were to go the Baja 5B route I would just need to get a throttle servo and rx pack.

Go with the 6T, but get a pair of better servos.

What would be a good servo for around $65?

i had a baja 5b ss and a e-rc8 buggy. (i know its not a truggy but still just read lol)

the baja was fun. loved the run time and the little money it took to run it but its very expensive if you want to upgrade or even go faster. and belive me you are going to want to go crazy on it and its going to cost a lot. Also there is not that many places to drive it. its had to find tracks to drive it at.

my rc8 was fun cause i could drive it any where. easy to find tracks to drive it at. cheaper to upgrade and it was already WAY FASTER then the baja. both where about the same on durablity. but its not like i was going off the same jumps as the baja was.

BUT

if you dont want to go to the track to drive the 6t then dont get a 6t. thats way to nice of a track car to mess up running it only at parks and stuff. if you want something you can mess around with then get a savage or revo or maybe a older truggy. like a 8t 1.0 (going for pretty cheap now and still easy to find parts for) or something like that.

hope this helps and i know this is maybe what you did not want to hear lol

Ok, Im starting to lean toward the MBX6T. I made a thread on HPIBajaForums and fro. What they are telling me I need over $100 in upgrades before I even run.

I probably not going to race because I don't have a good track within 30 min of my house and I never got in to the racing scene when I did try it out.

I was looking at the MBX6T because from what Ive read they Re supposed to be strong as hell. And I love the body style compared to other truggies it's like the 8ight T 2.0 but looks way better.

I would like the E Revo but I always read about people having to upgrade the diffs ($$$) and then after that they start to have problems with driveshafts.

At this point though Im pretty much decided on NOT going with the Baja solely because of the price for upgrades.

you can run BAJA out of the box but dont forget it's a large scale car so you need a lot of space

for pure bashing Monster truck will be much better than a truggy

what about Savage Flux? thats a pure basher

The only problem with the Savage is the handling but I really shouldn't worry because Im not going to be doing any racing. If I were to get a Savage it would be a FLM X SS Conversion. Nothing against the flux I just want a kit and I like the battery mounting of the FLM Conversion more it would allow me to run 5s which seams like the best blend of power without being too powerful.

The Savage X SS cost around $380 shipped and I could sell the k4.6 for at least $80 on eBay and get the X SS for $300 (kinda).
Or I could keep the engine and use it later on... I've always wanted to at least try owning Nitro and if I keep the engine I could use it in a later build and if Nitro doesn't work out convert whatever to BL.

Good thing I have. Long time to make my decision because I keep changing my mind...

You said this was your next rc yeh? Get something different to what you have already. I have a truggy for outside my house and sometimes at work..ehem..I mean after work and I have a baja set up with paddles for sandy areas I like to visit. I like keeping the electric out of the evil dirt

i think the savage flm conversion is going to be your best bet. its going to be durable and with a little work you can make it handle great.

FLM savage with some truggy diffs and durability hopups is your best bet.

Well it looks like neither is going to happen because my family and I are having money problems so I think I'm just going to go with a Slash or maybe the new Blitz.

I don't see why you need a 6T to bash. My 5T is plenty strong and still worth of the track. You might want to just pickup a used 5T. I got a great deal on mine, so can you. Toss in a used MMM combo on 4s or 5s and you'd be all set.
