Brushless Setup For an 18t - 02.06.2006, 10:06 PM

What would a good bl setup be for an 18t. i have seen the mamba 6800 run on a 2s lipo pack and have seen a lehner 10 series kick its a$$ but anway i am pretty open to ideas as long as it is reasonable. i like the lehner 10 series motors but i do know ho much they cost or what would be a good esc to run with it. any info would be greatly appreciated.

I've got a 6800kv Mamba in my 18T and love the balance of speed and torque. I haven't run it on anything other than normal timing and a 2s lipo, but it's plenty fast enough for me. I have a friend putting in an 8000kv mamba in his 18B this weekend, so I should be able to comment more on that one in the near future.

The best parts of the Mamba package are that the USB link is an excellent programming tool, the CS is supposed to be excellent and they have a programmable built in LVC for lipo's. Besides that, good luck finding another ESC/Motor combo for the same price. I'd imagine the Lehner 10 series is probably as much as the whole Mamba package together and I doubt very seriously it could be very much faster than the 8000kv Mamba.

I have an rc18T and i have a Mamba 8000kv motor. To say the least it is too fast - on its lower settings i have on more than one occasion have had enough motor for quad backflips off an indoor track jump. In my opinion it is too much for this little thing - It dosent take too long till its diff rebuild time. IMO

Hows that "Hope and Change" working out for Ya???

I'm curious as to why you think it's worth the extra $ when the Mamba systems have been proven many times over in that vehicle.

ok i am not saying mamba is a bad motor but first i like to be different me having a lehner motor would cover that but also lehner builds high quality motors(not saying mamba doesnt) and mamba is back ordered 3-4 weeks but one thing is that mamba motors are built the U.S.(which is a + for mamba). i still havent decided either one is very possible at this point.

I understand Lehner builds a good motor...I've got a Basic 5300 in my Tamiya EVO III. I just can't comprehend spending ~$140 on a motor just to do the equivalent as a $60 mamba motor.

Also, where are you seeing the mamba being back ordered? You can order one right now from a number of online retailers with them in stock, including here from Mike.

i saw them being back ordered on castles site and i might end up a mamba i just do not know at this point in time. It also depends on how much money i have. I am also seriously considering the mamba because of the price. Like I said i just dont know.
