Time to pay for the baby ... - 08.15.2009, 04:02 PM

Howdy all,

As many of you know, we just had a new baby in June. Well, the deductible for said baby is $7000. (Why do I even bother paying $400/month for insurance? - separate issue.)

I've decided I need to have a massive R/C sale to help pay down that huge cost. This won't count as the official for sale thread yet because I still need to clean, take pictures, etc, but I figured I'd give you a quick heads up on what's coming.

-1/8 Kyosho Kanai III (brushless)
-E-Revo (brushless w/ Tekno Neu 1515 1y)
-E-Revo VXL (brushless)
-Vendetta ST (brushless)
-RC18b (roller)
-Micro RS4 (brushed)
-Micro DT (stock-brushed)
-Kyosho Blizzard (brushless)
-1/6 Nylint Crawler (stock)
-Losi Comp Crawler (with electronics)
-A few AirHogs items
-DX3R
-Several Tx
-Tons of lipos
-Creative VadoHD video camera

While it pains me to sell those things, I'll be keeping my bl-CRT.5, Blade MCX, and Losi MRC, so I won't be without.

Anyway, keep an eye out for the for sale threads upcoming.

Thanks,

Brian

Holy crap! With a bill like that, I would definitely return the "product" for a refund!

Holy crap that is one large deductible! When my daughter was born, my wife was in the hospital an extra week w/a broken pelvis. If we had to pay the tab for the birth and stay it would've been over $ 20K

Best of luck w/your sale!

Not to pry, but, how much is the insurance covering?, If less than half, I say drop coverage and bank the money for doctors. If it doesn't cover for a major (operations, delivery, ect) what good is it for minor stuff(doctor visits)? I feel for you and hope things are good with the baby

Work because i gotta, play because i wanna

People here hate Nitro, I love it. I start it, run it about 50 ft from me and it dies, I go after it. Perfect exercise

Actually my wife is really good about not spending money. I'm the frivolous spender in our family (only on R/C). I have to force her to spend money on clothes and what-not.

The insurance is decent for everything other than pregnancy. Families in Utah tend to have more children than other places due to the population being roughly 50% Mormon. Insurance companies basically decided to take advantage of that.

The average Mormon family a generation ago was pretty large, but it's not so much anymore. For example, I have 7 brothers and 2 sisters from the same parents (10 kids including me), but my siblings and I are all having small families. I'm capping it at 3 kids myself. (for the record, Mormons are not polygamists, so please don't confuse us with those guys )

My company is based in California, but I work "virtual office" from home. They don't have group policies for Utah, so I have to pay for it all as if my company didn't even offer insurance. They do offer a PPO, but it's $700/mo with large deductibles for everything which would turn out even worse in the long run. Bleh.

Since we're not having any more kids, our insurance should be sufficient from here on out.

$7000 just for the deductible!! It's crazy what they charge for a delivery, a thing that was done at home for minimal cost a little while back. You're proof of why something has to be done to reign in cost. Good luck with the sale.
