RX8 combos vs MMM combo's - 07.03.2009, 12:03 PM

hey guys i have a mmm 2200 and was wondering since alot of people are tlking about these combos,if they were as good if not better than mamba monster. The thing i like about them that i have seen is they have many kv choices and there customer support is great.but the thing i saw that i didn't like was the prices like 330.but i guess what you pay for is what you get.
Thanks.

In my opinion, go Tekin if you race (for the sensored smoothness) and go Castle if you only bash (for the indestructible nature of it... at least for me).

My .02...

We are a bit more but we're offering more. Sensored design alone costs more to build. We can drive both styles of motros: sensored and sensorless. We're smaller, lighter, and smarter.

It's nice to know that everytime you squeeze it, it will be the same as last time.

Why can't the performance minded basher have the Tekin for alittle more money. LOL my 2cents.

But really my MMM combo is always the same everytime I pull the trigger. While yes it does cog at super slow rock crawler speeds but it is smooth everywhere else.

Have you had many smoked ESC's come back to you. I just blew my MMM ESC on the second run (so it had like 25mins on it max) and I'm now thinking of a Tekin RX8 if they built more reliabley.

Most of the "smoked" esc's are caused by things outside of our control: Bad solder joints on the solder posts, bad wiring, speedos loose on the chassis, etc.

We have had some failed units but rarely do they smoke. Often times it's a loose wire that comes in contact with another posts next to it...that's bad.

Very well. Most report smoother power, better run time , and cooler motors.

By no means am I even trying to bash on Tekin but the MMM can be used succesfully to race. Last night in the truggy class a nitro did take first but then it was 3 MMM powered vehicles in 2, 3, & 4 followed by a bunch of nitros and another electric farther back that had troubles all night. Like I said, not bashing Tekin cause if there combos had been out when I built my truggy thats what would be in it.

I run a T8 1900 kv motor with the MMM in my 8ight with great results. I've run about 15 packs through it so far and the hottest i've ever gotten the motor is 144.0 degrees after a 15-20 minute run on 5s geared 16/46 - about 50 mph. Although i got the T8 for racing and 4s, on 5s it seems to outshine the CC2650 on 4s in terms of power. Most people use medium to high timing with the 1900 kv motor and 4s, but I think zero degrees and high gearing is the ticket.

Well from the 2 days that I have used my RX8 I like it a lot. Yes it is super smooth, it only got hot on me today cause my pinion lost a tooth.

I know one thing for sure, the MMM ESC is probably one of the most unreliable ones that I own.
Indestructable? Hardly.
I also know that customer service has been better with the RX8 than with the MMM combo's.
I know where my money will go.
Just my .02 cents
