Brake adjustment or other adjustment on MMM?? - 09.11.2009, 12:05 AM

So I am running my MMM/2200 and when i just tap my brakes they kind lock up instantly with a sharp crack/snap sound. When I am running on asphalt the truggy will just slide out. Now the motor sould just coast I would imagine....I have adjusted the brakes lower but it just engages the snap/crack lock sound less aggressively. How to I tune my brakes to be able to apply and control my brakes more smoothly. I mean I dont even mind the fact that the fact that the brakes are soooo effective but the sound it makes makes me cringe every time. It is metal pinion on metal spur though.

You can also adjust your radio's brake EPA.

Castle Neu 1520 on 6S LiPo Powered Gmaxx (Nitro Killer)
Predator with OS .21TM
Supermaxx with Mach .26
Revo with OS .18TZ
Kyosho ST-RR Conversion

this happens all the time to me. The problem for me is that I forget I'm using a futaba radio. I forget to calibrate the radio to the controller, and i forget to reverse the throttle channel on the radio. so the esc thinks I'm driving around in reverse and jabbing the throttle to try and stop it lol

99.99% sure this is the problem. In reverse, braking is very abrupt, which sound just like the symptom you describe. I bet your reverse (which is actually forwards) has smooth braking right?

Make sure the esc is programmed for 'forwards-brake-reverse w/lockout' too.

Thanks Neil, you were actually dead on. I had it on brake then reverse but after trying the proportional with lock-out it works much better. With some fine tuning I will be able to find the sweet spot.

It does make that weird sound on braking like I have heard on some brushless systems....like pulling and releasing a sprung door stop. I dunno if this is norm with the MMM as this is the first of my encounter. Just running higher voltage makes me a bit more leary on strange sounds.

Other then this all is much better. Now if I can only keep the tires on the rim.
