Grease viscosity? - 09.19.2009, 02:13 PM

I'm running a X1 CRT with 3665 2300 motor on 4s.Now temps is really high on the motor because of the front unloading to much.I only bash and don't race.I have 30k in the center diff right now and not thick enough. Will normal automotive wheel bearing grease work for time being till my 100k diff fluid comes in?And will 100k be enough?

But for now just want to know if the grease will be better than the 30k?

You sure temps are high due to front unloading????

Yes because same setup in e-savage that was heavier and same gearing ran allot cooler! You can hear the motor running high revs when you stomp the throttle.Even at low speeds.Allot of ballooning up front!

I also run a crt on 4s using a castle/ neu 2200 . I use 25,000 or 30,000 in the center with 5,000 or 7,000 in the FR diff & 2,000 or 3,00 in the RR diff . I have no heat issues at all . I think something else might be causing youe issues .

I checked for binding and its free running.I must say we did run on very loose dirt yesterday.Might be why it was running high rpm due to wheelspin or something..

But will grease be thicker than the 30k fluid?

It would depend on which grease you use . I think the very loose dirt you discribed is most likely the cause of your temp issues .

Yes ran it on hard pack dirt today and temps was 125deg/f on motor and ESC was 95 and the lipo's never got over 100..Yesterday in the loose stuff temps was ..Motor 151 with esc 110 and lipo's between 110-125..Thats way to hot for my liking..

But going to gear it up n bit!

I've never really used a temp gun. But everything feels good when i put my hand on it . I've had no heat issues at all . Im also using a MMM esc .

Well the fan on the MMM esc, does not even come on untiil the esc reaches 150 degrees. So anything under that is no problem in my opinion . The motor temp depend on the brand of motor. I know for a NEU motor temps of 150 or slightly higher is safe . Mosy quality lipo's have a safe temp range between 100 - to around 120 MAXX. I dont really know the quality of the ez-run system . so someone who acctually has that system would have to answer that for you .. I hope this helps.
