Ugh. Bad race day for me. :( - 09.22.2009, 02:05 AM

Well, had a race just this past sunday. Was excited for it, but talk about crashing and burning. Ran two categories, 1/8 truggy and 1/10 stadium.

Weather conditions: lousy. Raining on and off the whole day, track surface is packed red dirt/clay. Slick conditions, almost zero traction.

Results:

1/8 Truggy:

heat 1: DNF
heat 2: DNF
B-Main: 1st (bumped up to A-Main)
A-Main: 2nd

Ended up losing to the owner of the LHS here. Damn...I know I could've taken him, but Sunday was not my day. Technical problems galore, no chance to practice the week leading up to the race (too much rain), and to top it off, I revamped nearly the entire setup on my truggy. No chance to test and tune it...bugger. :( Ended up sliding up a whole bunch around the track, couldn't seem to get my rhythm going on. Couldn't do anything right...couldn't even keep a straight line around the track or run consistent in the rhythm sections. Total off day. yikes. Ended up stripping my servo gears as well as my center differential gears. The front diffs are also nagging me to change them...I don't think they're going to last much longer.

1/10 Stadium:

heat 1: 4th (out of 6 cars)
heat 2: 1st
Main : 3rd

Bad tires on the Rustler, didn't have a chance to put new meats on the night prior. Track conditions made bad traction even more pronounced...was only able to hit above 1/4 throttle in the straight. Lost again to the LHS owner (driving a SC10). Was a fun race, but I know I could have done better. I hate it when it's myself that beats me.

Overall, it was good for experience. I'm still pissed as all hell...because I know I could have done worlds better. Still upset because I couldn't get my rhythm going on. Still fuming because now I look like a one-pump chump. If I could win the last race, why couldn't I win this one? My mind was definitely somewhere else...and I couldn't bring myself to race like I knew I could. Pretty fuggin pathetic in my eyes.

I know I should be using this to get me focused again for the next race, but I'm getting lost in being angry at myself. I can't believe that I couldn't at least pull something out of my a$$ with as much driving as I've been doing (been going to the track every Sunday religiously for the last two years).

Now I'm getting all pissy again.

I'm going to lock myself away in the man cave for two days prior to the next race.

Oh well...just thought I'd fill in the Monster family of the goings on halfway around the world. I'm sorry I didn't put up a better showing for you guys.

Dang man, that sucks. I got 1st place at my last points race on the 13th, but like you had, bad track conditions, pretty worn from a long season of use. I have my last race this weekend, two days, two MAINS. I think I am going to run with the truggies this time as I am far too fast for MT class.

That stinks... Next time remember to bring some paddles if there's been lots of rain. Unfortunately if there is a loss of traction BL only amplifies the effect due to all the torque. I'm guessing all of the extra servo use from correcting spin-outs is what blew the gears.

yeah...I'm actually thinking that for the next race I'm going to get a set of MAXX Mulchers from Proline. If the track happens to be a little slippery, then the Mulchers are going on. They look like a wicked tire...HUGE step-pins.

I'm thinking it might be the same as driving my .5, since I use step-pins on it.

As for the servo, I dunno. Maybe it was all the correcting that blew it out, but geez...that's a metal gear servo that's only a month old. Oh well...another race 18OCT. Guess there's nothing left for me to do but saddle up and ride on.

although I really hate frikkin losing.
