What were they thinking back then ?? - 10.16.2009, 01:33 PM

This was sent from a friend, thought it was interesting enough to post.
I couldn't help but wonder about all the crazy shizz they did back then medicinally. Leeches,Blood letting, drilling holes in your head without anesthesia etc.

I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.

If you thinking that's F'd up... look up the original therapies for women's "hysteria" back in the victorian days.
Now married women had husbands to deliver therapuetic "messages," but what about all those young virginal women, as well as widows? A doctors hand could get very tired after a hard day at the office, so it was neccesary to invent steam-powered vibrators to assist the busy doctor, as women needed repeated treatment for their disease.
And I thought the Sybian on the Stern was OTT. :)

I won't post a pic, but juct google "steam hysteria"

That's OK then, I would hate to think you were stealing someone else's idea, and I don't like being taken for a ride anyway so I'll have to take your word for it
