I have a deal where I can get a TRF801XT for $300 or a JamMin CRT X2 for $200. I was going to race either one when the weather pick up. I was also going to do electric conversion. Any input helpful! BTW I understand that the TRF has a perfectly straight center driveline.
You'll find much better parts support, stock and for electric conversions, for the Jammin. But the Tamiya is really cool because it's uncommon. I don't know too much about it besides that, but Lutz seems to have pretty good luck with it.
Yes i would go with the dan one this on the jammin will be much easier to get parts, even though the tamiya is cool and uncommon i would much rather have the one with more support. Also the dan made a point buy both and sell it make money on the tamiya.

The X2 is a second-generation truggy, while the MBX5T is a first-generation. The X2 is lighter and more thoroughly engineered; it has the big-bore shocks and forward weight distribution common in modern truggies, while the MBX5T does not. You would see a big difference in handling and acceleration quality in the X2.
