Xt8 dreams to become a monster - 01.06.2010, 08:00 AM

Hi,

I own already a xt8 brushless with a sliperential
I use a combo rx8 1700kv and 5S lipos.

I will buy a second xt8, and i want to convert it in a monster.
I will use the same combo and the same lipos.
My first ideas are :
- Use the sliperential on the monster, no more on the truggy.
- Use xray big bore 2009 on the monster, 2008 bore on the truggy.

Have you some ideas how to do this transformation, or have you already seen someone who do that ?

Best regards

Sorry for my poor english

Forg.

I made my XT8 sit higher that a normal truggy as well. I found that the Ofna Jammin X2 truggy shocks were a much better match than anything xray has as they allowed a higher stance yet had the shock travel needed for jumps. To save a few $$$ on my conversion, I just filled the CD with 120k oil. Here is my setup: http://scriptasylum.com/bl_conversions/_xt8.html

Note: I now use a Tekin RX8 1700kv truggy motor instead of the Medusa. I would have kept the Medusa, but couldn't gear the pinion low enough for the speeds I wanted.

Hello, BrianG, i already saw all your xt8, i'm a great fan of your work.
My center reinforcement is inspired by your.
Here my truggy :

i think, it will be hard to do a monster but maybe the xt8 can become like a muggy.
Your shocks seen to be close to the xray bore.
I don't know if i will buy 2 more xt8 rear big bore or 4x LST2 bore.

I don't pratice very big jump, i look to increase the distance between the car and the bottom of the car. (i don't know the english name) because i'm looking to race in a lot of different place.

Cool!

The LST2 shocks will not work unless you do a LOT of modifications! I got 4 of them thinking the same thing and they just didn't work. If you are looking for shock options, I have this page that allows you to compare measurements: http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_shocks.html

Also, I found that if I set the truck too high, the driveshafts would rub on the front kingpin area when turning. So, I just set it a tad bit lower and then added some preload to the shocks to get the stiffness I liked.
