G2 Chassis body post distance - 03.02.2005, 03:33 PM

Is the distance between the front and rear body posts the same on the G2 compared to the stock chassis?

It is almost the same, but to answer your question - No.
With the transmission lowered the center shafts lay almost flat. To maintain a constant length between the trani and difs (same as stock) the chassis had to grow about 1/8th inch on each side(a diagonal line is longer than a flat between the 2 points).
I wanted aftermarket solid shafts to have to same fit as stock - so the extra length addresses that.

This may not be why you asked, but....
If you use stock posts and have then set at the factory height (about center), the post will easily flex to fit the original body holes. If you run your body low (with short posts) you will need to trim a bit off the hole to fit.

That's exactly what I needed to know. I just finished this Humvee body, and I didn't relish the thought of having to drill out the holes once I decide to pull the trigger on the G2. That would look so ghetto IMHO. :D

BTW, will you be producing any more of the red chassis?

Yes - I've already got a few people waiting for them. They'll be in with the next batch of chassis.

You wont have any problem on the fit with those long post in the rear...ghetto :L:

what gave you the idea for coloring the chassis? And what made you decide upon which colors? I mean you did such a good job picking which colors, how did you think of it?

Will you be making any of the special edition chassis available through this fine site, or will they remain exclusive through the GorillaMaxx website?

Have you considered selling the individual parts in different colors?

Since I don't make many of the special edition kits, it is easier to control, how many, when, and what colors, if I just sell then on the gorillamaxx.com site.

When I first started with the G1 chassis I did sell the parts individually in the silver, blue and purple colors. Let me tell you, this was a nightmare to stock and I ended up with several miss-matched parts.

Right now I'm planning to run another batch of the red alum. and will be switching to silver carbon fiber for the next SE kits. If I can get enough stock I might add blue alum to the list. I've even considered doing a powder coated version (racing yellow).
We'll just have to wait and see - I'm open to suggestions

:D
