No brakes or reverse on MM running brushed - 04.12.2010, 02:12 PM

OK, got a SC10 last week and after two packs the stock esc went up in smoke after I pulled it from the track. I'm thinking, no big deal I have a MM I can put in the truck. Today I get it all set up, had to go to the lhs and have them update the esc so I can use my field card ( please make a Mac compatible Castle Link program). Came home hooked it up and went to use it. Goes great forward, seems a touch faster than the stock esc, still using the stock Reedy Radon 17T motor. However when I hit the brakes I get nothing and when I tru using reverse I get nothing. Any Ideas? Esc worked fine in my CRT.5 with a Medusa brushless motor

Unfortunately its a .NET program (a good thing) so it'd be a complete rewrite. Just a note though, you can pick up a copy of XP fairly cheap OEM that you can use bootcamp on your overpriced, er I mean Apple (sorry I can't resist digs at Apple hardware). :) Not ideal, but at least it lets you use it for the mean time instead of going down to the LHS or whever.

Microsoft really needs to just drop a .NET stack (not the scaled down Silverlight stack either) on OSX.

More than likely the programming is incorrect -- if it worked fine with a brushless, there should be no issue running a brushed motor.

Make sure you have the wiring correct for forward/reverse operation too, and have the programming set correctly for forward/reverse operation.

Thanx!

Went over to my friend's place tonight, re-installed firmware 1.24, reset to default and then just changed the motor type to brushed reversing. Still doesn't work right, now I have reverse with brakes in reverse but no forward. I know it's reverse cause the speed changed as I played with the reverse power. I also tried all the old firmware versions and had no luck. So I wanted to rule out it being a funky motor problem or wiring problem. I pulled my MMM out of my E-maxx that is broke in half and used just the field programmer to set it up, it works flawlessly! Guess something is wrong with the MM, gonna send it in and upgrade to the MMPro.

Overkill?

I recalibrated the radio after every change to the programing. Best I was able to get was to calibrate it then reverse the throttle and I could make it act like it was forward with brake but it was really reverse with brake, couldn't get two directions out of it for nothing.

I'll have Richard look into this and see if we can reproduce it here.

Thanx!
