Castle/Neu 1717 1500KV and 1580KV Diff? - 05.09.2010, 07:58 AM

I am looking to buy a 1717 motor and I know the heli version has a 6mm shaft (I prefer that shaft) and also has a open end bell (I prefer that too) but why is the KV lower on the Heli version? Is the motor still a Y wind motor or is it different?

Im pretty sure all Castle motors are Y winds, kv difference may be down to slight difference in magnetic strength ( fatter shaft > less magnet ) ? Just a guess, but I dont believe there's any major difference as such..

.. famous last words.

Hi Raydee -- welcome to RC Monster.

There isn't any real difference between the two motors. The car version is slightly heavier, and doesn't have any cooling holes (to prevent the motor from collecting dust and sand.)

They are both 1 turn Y winds.

Thanx!
