Wow - 05.31.2010, 08:35 PM

Had the first run or the Blitz the other night . Things
sure have changed from years back . The thing really
scooted . But only for a short time . Had to stop ,
motor felt too hot . The truck is stock geared with a
mmp and 4600kv running 6000mah 25c 2s lipo from
Dynamite . I could use a little direction from here ,
or is the heat normal . Thanks in advance for any info .

speaking from zero experience with this vehicle and its gearing.....

your probably geared way too high. And those batteries have got to go

you will also want to get a decent infrared temp gauge. you can pick em up as little as $20 from most places.

I have a tempguage , was too excited and forgot it
when I went to run the truck . It has been many years
I ran r/c .

as for the gearing too high , do you mean ?

my pinion gear is too small and spur too big

or

pinion too big and spur too small
as for the battery it was cheap atleast till I can
order better .

pinion too small and spur too big.

try this out. http://scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/

generally people shoot for 40 - 45 mph for general bashing.

Also here are a few general guidelines i follow:

Everything is wack. Recheck your set up!
Motor - hot
ESC - hot
BATTERY - hot

GEARED TOO HIGH
Motor - normal
ESC - hot
BATTERY - normal

GEARED TOO Low - motor is spinning too fast
Motor - hot
ESC - normal
BATTERY - normal

Insufficient batteries.
Motor - normal
ESC - normal
BATTERY - hot

The battery may not be the best but there's no reason for it to go until it's useful life is done. It should be more than adequate in a 2WD SC truck.Gearing to high means either the spur is to small or the pinion is to big, both result in higher gearing. I would use a temperature gun first and check the temp because 150 is safe but will still feel pretty hot.
