Castle granted fourth Patent - 07.01.2010, 03:38 PM

Yahh!

Finally, after 5 1/2 years of waiting (the provisional filed in feb 2005), Castle has been granted our fourth patent. We still have (I think) four more pending.

This patent covers the Castle Link USB programmer.

USPTO# 7,740,516 ("electronic speed control programming")

Our previous patents are:

#7,400,103 ("controller for multi-phase brushless DC motor")
#7,492,122 ("method and apparatus for detecting the cell count in a battery pack")
and #7,579,796 ("controller for multi-phase brushless DC motor")

congrats Patrick! good things will come to those who wait. immitation is often a form of flattery, but it will cost ya now suckers! now if you could only patent your outstanding customer service..... but its not like any of the other manufactures even try to match it so i guess there is no point for the patent. anyway keep up the great work! my mmm has been runnin strong for about a year and a hlaf on 4 and 6s mostly. mmp for around 3 months on 3s. for me the programability is the best part. adjusting the power output to suit my driving style on diff surfaces helps alot. dont have any sponsors or anything like that, but at most tracks i go to people know if they got castle they should come see me. newbies are enthused with all the adjustments and the crowds i race with are pretty serious and want to squeeze out every last watt. long story short (finally) the way i see it castle was the first on the scene to have such complete programability and the "atta boy" for it is long overdue and well deserved.

What is the advantage of having these patents?

Looks like it's time to shut down my illicit, underground, bootleg ESC shop. What am I going to do with all the trained monkeys? All they know how to do is solder...

Probably could sell the chimps to MaxAmps, they'd fit right in with that crew ?

Excellent job! It's a nice feeling when they go through. Got 2 myself and 2 pending but working R&D helps facilitate such things. Hopefully one of those pending is some new super cool ESC! I certainly look forward to enjoying future Castle products.

They say a good mechanic only needs 2 tools - WD40 & Duct tape. If it moves, and its not supposed to, duct tape. If it doesn't move, and its supposed to, WD40.

It means no-one can copy their designs, or if they do they have to pay royalty fees to CastleCreations ( the same way Castle pay royalties to Neu for using their motor designs ( well, most of the larger ones anyway ) ). Anyone who does illegally copy Castle's designs will be in serious poop with the law- liable to a very hefty fine.

Same reason why Mike is waiting for the patent on the slipperential to come through, so he can throw the book at that company in Hongkong ripping off his design. Only another 2-3 years to wait probably...
