Lipos with heatsinks (hardcase) -

Looks like HC is at it again. Interesting concept, wonder how effective it is? If it's a decent joint using thermal compound directly to the foil cell wrapper it might work out pretty well.
But really, using proper packs and gearing you shouldn't need a heatsink for the cells. I guess cooler is always better, but it shouldn't be relied on. Kind of like ESC fans. OK for keeping a moderate setup cooler, but shouldn't be used as a "band-aid" fix for an overtaxed setup.
I don't like the fact they advertise the plastic as being "fireproof ABS". I'm sure some noobs will think this means the lipo is totally safe...sigh.
I think there definitely is a point where you could make a hardcase lipo too strong. If a cell puffs and the case can't swell the pressure will continue to build. Eventually when it fails instead of a gradual venting it would be catastrophic i.e. exploding lipo and plastic shrapnel in your face.
I dont like the fact that you can purchase a lipo from them and then the battery has a bad cell ,you cannot return it, not worth purchasing without being able to test it right away and wait two weeks

Sure, if you wanna go through all the crap and hassle that goes with it. Since my turnigy packs are so cheap I concluded that even if I get a few bad ones every once in awhile *which non of my hard cases have been, just soft* then i'm still coming out money ahead vs buying brand named lipos
if you buy them from the US wharehouse its pretty easy, you just gotta register the warranty number from the back of the pack and make sure it gets returned within 30 days. The US whare house is by seattle so its not that far from us.

Hmm, didn't know that, may start buying them in USA

The difference in price between the US wharehouse and the china wharehouse is made up by the much cheaper shipping. I got my stuff in 2 or 3 full business days
MA will have to introduce their new line of Kevlar wrapped anti-puff proof packs with built in high velocity BL fan to cool the 12gauge Deans wires on the 100C race lipos.
I retired from RC, now life is all about guns and long range shooting.
