Got my 30T RCM pinion - 01.21.2011, 09:04 PM

I just got the 28T and 30T pinions. These things are big and are in the top right of in the pic.

The bottom ones are Robinson Racing and they are ok. They sure don't last as long as the RCM one. The Castle Pinions are quiet too. More so then the RR ones.

Installed the 28T in the GTP that runs on 4s. I jumped from 23T to the 28T. I had no room for the 30T. Estimated speed is about 68MPH with the 47T spur. No bad for 4s. I'm hoping to push close to 80MPH with 4s and 1.5D 1515. Maybe more if someone can make me a smaller spool mount. Pletty was at 159F after a few runs, Acepow was just chilling and RX8 had 3 led on.

Damn that Plett is dead sexy. I think I would mount it to the wall or put a frame around it. So you like those Ace Lipo's huh? Do the RCM Pinion's have a different tooth profile. We need to go find a good place to run.

hehehehe. I have two dead pletty's in the garage and haven't found a spot to hang them yet. I'm liking the Acepow's alot. There are 2 more on the way. Last I heard they were at Hong Kong customs. I'm hoping they were build with thicker power wires.
The RCM pinions are a bit rusty, but nothing a bit of Royal Purple can't take care off. Monster Mike would have details about his pinions.
I only run my cars at nite at the moment. Family life keeping me busy.

I swapped out the Pletty for the Tekno Nue 1515 1.5D motor and ran it last nite with the 28T pinion + 4s Acepow. Calculated speed is around 80mph and it sure looked like it went that fast. I did this run with the Ofna Blue foam tires that has about 2-3mm of foam on the rim. I blew foam ups before with less speed. But I figured because that was fresh uncut foam tires. Lesson learned. The Tekin only had 3 lights on and the motor wasn't even sweating after a few speed runs. Waiting on my V4 eagletree logger and gps receiver to arrive to post some real speeds and verify/tweak my excel calulator.

I had a trx jato at one time that was geared for 130+ with a novak HV4.5 on 4s lipo. The internal tranny gears would melt before I could get to full throttle....

everything seems slow now....
