I am about at the end of my rope with the Maxx and I really want to get a truggy. I would like to get an 8ight-t but they are too much money. I see I can get a D8T shipped NEW for $280. Question is How does the D8T rate with other Truggies in terms of Durability. I never go to a track so dont worry about lap times, I mainly bash at construction sites or dragrace on a soccer field.
I just dont want to get into this new Car and have it not be all that great. Would be Ran on MMM 1717 6s zippy
Pros and Cons would be great if you have any experience with the D8T.
CONs -at First looks the Rear center driveshaft looks REALLY wierd. Is this a problem? the Extended "Cup"
PROs- But I do like how the A-arms or solid and not milled completely through

I did some reading up on the D8's awhile back because I was considering one too. They seem to be pretty tough vehicles. No real complaints from anyone on different forums. One thing I noticed was the racers were paying alot of attention to the shocks though. Particularly the length and the amount of droop of the rears. I don't remember if this was just a setup thing or trying to prevent a potential problem.
D8T is a great truggy. 4mm chassis where most have 3mm. The diffs are very beefy. The rear center driveshaft is not a problem.... though the front center driveshaft wears a little faster than some. It can be replaced with the optional DCJ or a Kyosho MP9 universal.
As to the droop issue stated by Overdriven, that is only an issue on the buggy as it comes with short rear shocks, truggy has long rears.
I've put about 10 runs on mine so far and it's been awesome. I wore out some bearings but it was used so that could have been previous abuse. Parts are cheap for it and I love 1/8 scale in general. The D8T is a GREAT basher, that's all I use mine for right now. The arms are solid plastic and like he said, a 4mm chassis. It has all the typical strengths of 1/8 scale and then some.
Thanks for the input so far. Its looking better everyday to me. What I really like about it also is that it comes with aluminum toe plates as opposed to plastic. And of course the beefy 16mm shocks.
Have you guys had any breakages yet? or thing that seem like they could use some beefing up on?
GTX cool vid. I like the jump off the base.

Super tough truggy's, a buddy of mine has one and he can't kill it and he's trying with a 1520 and 6s.
Right on. Thats what I would be doing. I will be ordering one up this Sunday. Looks like $290 for a roller. I will buy an 8ight tray and make a motor mount of scrap 1/4" Al. I wish Mike made combo deals. Tray and Mount.

Thanks for the comment on the vid, it's fun to jump bases! He has the conversion and that's the one I use. You'll also want his top plate since the plastic center diff plate isn't up to par and won't accept plastic spurs without some dremel work.
Sweet man, with the Rage in the backround. I just ordered mine up like an hour ago.
Are you using the Losi battery tray? and if so How is that working out? I wanted to go that way cause I had good success and they are cheap. Also how is your radio tray? did you have to cut it? yours looks a lot farther away from the pinion than other pics ive seen.

I use the Losi tray and like it a lot right now. Slightly too big for my lipo but it still works well. The radio tray is Mike's from his D8 kit and it's awesome too.
