I do that for my bashers so there is a stiffer suspension for jumping and such. Even on my lightweight Revo, I had to use the second to stiffest of the 120mm springs (pink or purple, can't remember) in the rear since a lot of weight is sitting back there from motor and most of the batteries.
You have to be careful with ride-height though, especially with a heavy truck. If the springs bottom out before the truck chassis does, you can bend/break the shock end or shaft. With the Nitro Revo's weight mostly on the motor side in the back, landing from a jump wrong can set all the weight on one or one pair of shocks. I like to set ride height so the truck bottoms before the shocks do, but use stiff springs so it doesn't bottom too easily - I guess using the bottom of the truck as a safety. The skids are cheaper and easier to replace than shocks...
