Rckcrwlr is going Super (Sport)...Introducing the New HPI Baja 5SC SS -
03.27.2011, 07:57 PM
Well I did it.
Now I just need to take the time and build it. I just got back from RCX and it really got me thinking.
After building and running my TCS 5T Flux...I knew that I needed to get one of these.
Here is the body next to me 2.2 Sportsman Body

After seeing them run at RCX, I just have no where to run it with all the noise. I will be keeping the Fuelie if that ever changes.
So I picked up an RC-Monster Conversion Kit and the CC XL is arriving on Tuesday.

I voted for ESC Rear Brakes & Front Disc Brakes, you can dial in exactly the amount you want for each!
Oh, and AWESOME build...Mike's BL Baja Conversion is nothing short of a piece of art, it is simply amazing! And Castle's 1/5 Combo...ugh, so bad-ass!!!

Its worth considering the FLM towers, extended arms and CVDs if you've got the coin...
They add stability and look great. Are you adding the turtle quickdiff / top plate?
I'm for just front disk brakes - I've have no issues with ESC braking and equally dialable.
The rear brakes will just cook and fade.

Sorry for not replying guys...I am not getting notifications. Thanks for the kudos...This is so much fun to work on something that I can actually see the parts...

Chris,
You are like a Drug Dealer. You got me hooked on this with your 5B at Motorama. I will be giving my wife your number, so she can yell at you.

Thomas,
Wish I could do a better job at documenting this build but life gets in the way, sometimes.

Sorry for the delay on this.
I got the tires mounted up.
You want to talk about a battle. Those close cell rear foams are tough. I swear I heard them laughing at me.
I like the tread. I think it will be a good All Terrain Tire.

Assembled the shocks. It is so nice working on these big rigs. It's like having big numbers on your phone. When are the 1/5 scale crawlers going to take off.
Just as a reference, I put a tool next to it. These things are huge.
