Hobbyking lipos - 02.11.2012, 06:18 PM

The XBE is working v hard my 2 x 3s 40c hobbyking lipos.

They were well puffed and didnt give me suffecient run time. Any suggestions on what to go for? Is this nano stuff any good or meaningless?

Options are

2 x 6s 5000mah @ 98

2 x 6s 4500mah @87

Gens Ace 25c gave me better punch than Turnigy 40c in my first big rig. For my new Hummer build I'll be running 6s - 2 of these in parallel:

http://www.hobbypartz.com/98p-25c-4000-6s1p.html

for 200Amps constant/400Amps burst rating

I've never tried the nanotechs - but reviews are mixed.

from what I have heard on here the nano-techs are not very good. Heard good things about the GensAce though

The "nano-tech" batteries are just as hit or miss as any of the hobbyking batteries.

Zippy, turnigy, rhino, nano-tech whatever. Basic rules apply, the biggest mah you can fit and the highest "c" you can afford.

I've got a growing pile of DOA and puffed hobbyking batteries. I'd still rather take my chances than pay for "premium" batteries. My last hobbyking order was over $400

Gens Ace from hobbypartz.com seem to be the hot ticket for price vs. performance these days.

What about Turnigy 3s 5000mah 25C packs? My friend has owned two and they are still good after over a year. But a couple of the same packs came with a used truck and one is now very puffy and going to be disposed of.

I have had bad luck with my Turnigy 5200mah 30C 2s hardcase packs. The cases were thin and broke at the wire exit. They have very little punch now and 2 cells of the 6 are no good. They are over a year old and were run in 6s on a 1518 in a Revo. I wouldn't buy them again. I think it was mostly because I kept them fully charged in between runs (2 or 3 days) instead of at a storage charge.

I also haven't had good luck with my Gens Ace 4000mah 30C 2s hardcase pack that I use in my MM/5700kv Rustler. It only takes about 3500mah I think. And it is less than a year old. But it does have plenty of punch.

Maybe it's all just me tho. Use a Turnigy Accucell 6 to charge all my packs at 6A. Recently been keeping them at storage charges between runs, but I'll need more than a 50W charger to top them all off before I go drive in a reasonable amount of time.

REVO 3.3 Conversion: 3906 trans, CC 1518, MMM, 6s Gens Ace 5k 40C, LST Diffs, Summit shafts
Slash 2x4 LCG
Two Slash 4x4s

I have had great luck with the Blue Lipo 3s batts from Hobby Partz as well in a variety of trucks. Can't say anything about anything bigger though

I am going to get a couple of Sky Lipo 5000 5S 40C when my tax $ comes in...$64-/each is hard to beat.

1. MBX-6 T8 1900KV, RX8 ON 4S
2. MBX-5T 1520, MMM ON 5S
3. MBX-5 ONROAD CONVERSION 1515, MMM ON 5S
4. MRX-3 ON ROAD CONVERSION 1512, MMM ON 6S
5. TEN T 2650 T8, MMP ON 3S

I'm sitting on a couple of puffed blue lipos myself however they replaced MaxAmps and definitely lasted longer. Jumped to GensAce based on a long list of good recommendations and they seem solid but I haven't had them long enough to be sure.

With that said most of my packs are Thunder Power however I've managed to get them all at 50% off so the damage isn't too bad but for the times I don't have something to trade in the GensAce will hopefully pull through.

I say GensAce as well.

I picked up GensAce smaller packs for my planes and have been getting incredible results.
Definitely great packs, and quick shipping (They're in CA, I believe).

Their prices are also very competitive with HK.

Ok it's looking like between these two. I've used the ace on my crawler and they work fine... But it's 8000mah vs 10k

Thoughts?

I'll be in the market for a few lipos this Spring and I'll be going with Gens Ace. That is for a 500 sized heli. I read sooo many positive feedback about them that I am not even considering Turnigy. Even though the ones I have are good. I had a few Nanopuffs. Not going to get those for any application.

The $30 difference in price, I'd say GensAce, I doubt you could actually last all 10Ah...without being sore? errr... tired. oops.
