Electrical Component ID help. - 03.04.2013, 10:44 AM

I'm trying to re-flash my FlySky GT3B Transmitter with the updated firmware. To do this I need a flash card thing (found it), and I need to solder on a 4 pin header to some mounting holes on the board in the Tx. I also need a 4 pin connecting wire, with plugs like servo plugs.

So here is where I'm asking for help. I'm trying to order the parts I need to do this from Digi-Key, but I'm not well versed on the technical names for these items.
http://ordering.digikey.com/Ordering...ite=us&lang=en

What I need:

*4 pin header, 90 degree or straight, doesn't matter to me
*4 pin to 4 pin wire that'll go onto the header

I have already found the board to flash it with:

And the Voltage Regulator that I will be swapping out to make it more efficient.

Once I figure out what the header is called on Digi Key, and if they sell a plug/wires to go on the header there I'll be set!

Thanks for the help.

Pretty sure someone sold a complete kit to do this, including the solder on parts. And he sold just the solder on parts seperately. The thread with his info was on rctech. I had planned to do this as well, but never got around to it.

I did find that website.

But, I'm cheap, and I'd like some capacitors and LEDs from digikey too. So I figured I'd try to find all the parts for the flash for cheaper than his kit.

If I have to I'll just solder the dang things together for the flash, but I'd like to have the header/cable.

Actually, if I can't figure out what they are called on digikey, I think I'll be able to rig something up from scavenged pins from balance plug extension and just whittle down some JST plugs for the cable. Ghetto version but it should work well enough.

Could save some $$$ if this will likely be something you don't do often:

Header: http://www.allelectronics.com/make-a...-HEADER/1.html

For the socket, just use a servo plug for 3 of the pins, and remove a single wire/connector from another servo connector and just slide it on the 4th pin. Or, if you have an old PC case laying around, scavenge the power/reset switch and hdd/power led wires/connectors and use those.

Thanks Brian. With that info I was able to find the correct ones on digikey to add to my order. As for the cable I will make one with balance plugs. I've got enough spare 3S around to do it.

Thanks again.

What I did on mine was just soldered a four conductor cable (or just 4 wires) to those pins and ran the cable/wires down through the handle to the bottom of the case and soldered on a 3s balance plug. No headers necessary. I have removed the battery tray because I'm using a lipo, but I think you could work it with the battery tray still in.

Good luck!

I tossed all my old computer components last fall. Space was getting tight and I had a ton.

brijar: That's a great idea! I'll also be running a 3S lipo, so while I'm in there I'll run the lead down the handle. Thanks for the input!
