BL LST with a 2230 and video.... but it's dead now :( - 05.08.2006, 03:14 AM

OK - had a major crash today hey - but managed to get a short amount of footage for you fellas - it's pretty quick and i was a little over halfway through the batts - so doing well for a 6kg+ tuck i thought - crap quality too, cause i took it on my phone - but it's there

I'd say it's quicker than the LST2 both off the line and top end with just over 13 minute runtimes or so as a guess - but only managed to get a couple runs under my belt with the other trucks on that sunday due to it getting wet a few times -lol- .... the vids are from today tho

The crash came only a few minutes after this footage - i was trying to film a run on the bitumen for ya....spewin i did that really....i was trying to film, and drive at the same time....got a little too close to the edge of the road, and had an awkward position on the wheel, so ended up @ WOT head on into the pole.... unfortunately, in my haste to check the truck - i lost the video of the crash itself - but- i added a link to a vid i got after the crash but beware - very naughty words are used in it, as you can imagine....-lol-

VIDEO LINK - http://www.putfile.com/danhfvcsd

enjoy, and let me know what ya think... at least i got the pole as good as he got me tho - this was park orchards in Melbourne btw :)

I see what you mean by language. It is ok. It was only after the crash.
Have you got a chance to see what you broke up yet?
It looks pretty quick. Well hope you didn't tear up to much. Let us know what it did.
I hate it when them poles jump out in front of you. ;)

Peace!

hehehe - and those poles are solid as!! -lol-

*Managed to crack the tabs totally off both steering servos, and i can see the gears of one of the servos -lol-

*Snapped the main CF chassis deck where the right steering servo is mounted.

*Snapped lower front CF chassis plate

*Ripped out threads of front bulkhead and bent most of the screws there

*Snapped front chassis connecting brace - forget what its called and cant be bothhered looking it up -lol-

*Managed to 'warp' the front diff case and lost a screw out of that too - snapped the diff retaining ring in half aswell - prolly a couple small bits here and there too - but havent really stripped it too far - having probs uploading stuff from phone to PC too - but have a couple pics on phone - sorry i didnt get more -lol-

It's all good tho - at least we know it's being put to good use and it's no shelf queen hey -lol- But considering the amount of force that went into the hit - it held up VERY well i thought :)

BTW - i have been tinkering with the idea of mounting the electrics (2230/160/24 and 18 cells) into and ofna buggy roller - will update later - going in to LHS today to see how it sits in the chassis - Boy would it be easier with lipos! -lol-

Oh, that sucks! Quite an extensive damage list there.
That's one of the reasons I prefer alu on my RCs. Most times you can bend it back as a band-aid fix, so you can bash on until you get replacements. But snapped is snapped.

Hey, you don't need to beat it up like that to proof it's not a shelfy ;)

Ten out of ten for effort man.Seems you made the front end into a crumple zone.Never heard of anyone flexing the front end enough to bend a diff case before, LST bulkheads never seem to break and they have really good bumpers so that takes some doing.apparently they make rather good battering ramms:007: .

i'm definately glad the carpark was empty of both pplk and cars tho - could have been a dangerous excercise -lol-

But it's all good - i had fun doing it, so cant complain -lol- I was thinking of keeping only the main chassis deck CF, and upgrading the other parts to alum - even the stock front brace under the shock tower survived very well, where it snapped like a twig at half that speed when it was CF...

anyways - hope you enjoyed -lol-

Oh - and i've figured it out - i can flip/mirror the motor mounts, and mount the motor/esc straight into the area that the nitro engine would usually sit, and mount 2x 6cell packs standing upright next to each other on the other side, with the 3rd 6cell pack laying centered across the front of the chassis, with a small guard over it ;)

Be prepared for the 18cell 2230 powered 1/8 buggy in the next few months!!!

mmk - here are some pics of most of the damage -lol-
Anything labelled "The Aftermath" is crash pics :)

And i wont bother starting a new thread.... but here's a basic idea of the way i'd mount in the buggy....

Imagine both the alum motor mounts mirrored/flipped, and this will allow me to mount the whole thing right where the nitro engine would be placed...This would leave the motor placed in the rear right side when looking at the buggy from the front.

I'm gonna make a small mount for the ESC and place it most probably on the centre braces above the diff/dogbones - the fan i'm not sure if it would be left there or not, as i'm kinda toying with the idea of mounting the ESC there instead, and having the fan over on the far right side.

The pack sitting in the middle might sit that way, or possibly even sideways - but most probably how it is - i'll be making a small brace to mount it securley to also, aswell as for the packs on the side.

But yeah - nothing really WELL sorted yet, but when i get hold of a roller, i'll be a lil more definate on the mounting etc :)

This will be one POTENTLY FAST buggy!!!
