Alright guys, I was wondering what shock setup you guys are running in your G2Rs?

Depends on where I intend to run. And the weight (cells) also has a huge influence.

One thing I learned on the G2R, the stock chassis likes to have the rear springs two steps (traxxas chart) stiffer then the front. As in the manual, works fine. On the G2R, however, I like the rears only one step stiffer than the fronts. Just my taste. (my g2r has no tranny, just a buggy like driveline, with centerdiff... so weight-bias might be different for you)

I keep two sets of shocks, one with 80wt oil, and the other with 50wt oil. Stock pistons.
The 80s is for very smooth terrain, and the 50s are allrounders, still do good on rough tracks.
As for springs, the 80s usually have black/tan, and the 50s have gold/green on.
This is how I like it on my G2R with 5S2P Lipos (close to 14 Ni cells in weight)
And yes, I like my trucks rather on the stiff side.

As alwyas, if you try it out yourself, you might find the combo that you like. Drivingstyle has a huge influence.

But keep in mind the weight bias will be different on a G2R.

Hmm...Thanks guys. I'm not running Lipo and I'm keeping the E-Maxx tranny (I love manual shifting - it really gets fun when you get a .08 second shifting servo :004: ), so I think I will have a rather heavy overall weight compared to you Dafni. I also like my suspensions on the stiff side. I think I am going to try 80wt with silver front and pink back. The thing is I am planning to the set-back rear A-arms. This puts the chassis (batteries, tranny) just short of exactly in the middle of the truck. Because of this, I will not be surprised if I have to run the same springs front and rear.

Also, how do you guys tell which of the anodized teflon GTR's is which (as in front and rear, since they use different pistons)?

When you first get them, install the piston you want. They have small numbers on them. Then I always scratch a small mark on the outside.

Yes, I use to scratch a small F or R on the caps too.

I use the long travel springs and p1 rockers, the rear shocks to the front with the silver LT springs and 40w oil, in the rear i used the front shocks with the optional pistons, blue springs and 40w oil

40WT seems a little thin for the LT springs, no?

i use p1's with silver up front blue in rear with 40wt oil, works perfectly.

Well, I'll just toy around with the suspension till I find a good setup. I can deal with too stiff, but too soft drives me nuts.

We will see what happens I guess.

Remember you got more weight than it is nitro so you need a stiffer spring to compensate
